For the second week in a row, the Gotham Titans played an inter-division game in the high school Junior Varsity league, and were again victorious, beating Lightning by a score of 61 - 51.
Playing with a full squad for the first time in a while, the Titans faced off against a much bigger and older Lightning (Coach Rothman) team, and faced little adversity on the way to a comfortable 10 point victory. The Titans defense was again completely overwhelming for their opponents, highlighted by an 18 - 3 steal disparity and limiting Lightning to 34% from the field. On offense the Titans unleashed a balanced attack led by Thomas Martelli (pictured below), Isiah Marino, and Xavier Bala, relentlessly exploiting the Lightning defense leading to 18 trips to the free throw line.
Dylan Santucci scorched the Lightning from behind the three point arc on his way to 9 points and 8 rebounds. Xavier Bala scored 19 points with 6 assists and 4 steals, shooting 3 for 6 from deep. Thomas Martelli scored 12 points with 6 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assists. Isiah Marino had 8 points with 5 assists and 5 rebounds. Stamati Sideridis was again the defensive anchor in the paint, with 3 blocks and 3 steals to go along with 6 rebounds. The Titans remain undefeated in the Super League, with a record of 9-0, two games ahead of second place. The next two games on the schedule are back in the 8th Grade Division 1, and see the Titans match up against Rising Stars and Nassau Pride.
